The Global Action Network Action Plan includes arranging annual meetings, workshops and events, recognize interested parties and establish connections to promote collaboration and interaction among cross-sectorial actors focusing on the important elements for food security from Healthy Waters to Healthy People.

UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment
|
|
|
|
The UN Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) +2 Stocktaking Moment will take place on 24-26 July 2023. The event will build on the momentum of the 2021 UNFSS and create a conducive space for countries to review commitments to action that were made during the Summit, share stories of success and early signs of transformation, maintain the momentum for bold acceleration and bold action to further the resilience of food systems, advocate for their adaptation to climate change, ensure they contribute to communities’ resilience to further shocks and crises, and boost the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The Global Action Network is supporting this special event by FAO on Blue transformation, ensuring that aquatic foods are a visible part of the FSS agenda.

The Enormous Potential for Aquaculture in Africa
|
|
|
|
The African continent has the fastest-growing population in the world which leads to many opportunities and challenges including, amongst others, adequate growth in the production of nutritious foods with low environmental impact. An initiative was launched by multiple organisations and stakeholders to address this issue pragmatically, and it will be showcased during a FAO Conference side event with the title of “The Enormous Potential for Aquaculture in Africa”. The Global Action Network is supporting this side event.

The Global Action Network will continuously identify challenges, exchange knowledge and solutions related to the key elements of food security. Through the Gain and Share Tool, you can gain and share knowledge to promote sustainable food from the oceans and inland waters for food security and nutrition.

Aquatic Foods Community of Practice
Up and Running!
|
|
|
|
An Aquatic Foods Community of Practice (CoP) has been established, with leadership from the FAO, Lilongwe University in Malawi, and the University of Greenwich Natural Resources Institute (NRI). The purpose of the CoP is to bring together scientists and other stakeholders to improve the collection and dissemination of information on the nutrient composition of aquatic foods.

ClimeFOOD
Climate Resilient Aquatic Food: Feeding the Future
|
|
|
|
Feeding a growing world population requires an increased focus on aquatic food systems featuring foods containing important micro- and macro-nutrients to ensure healthy diets. ClimeFOOD, a proud partner of the Global Action Network, will directly contribute to more sustainable and climate-resilient food systems to UN SDGs and the outcomes from both the UN Ocean and Nutrition Decades by developing and implementing pathways to improve health under the challenges of climate change.

Aquatic-Blue Food Coalition
|
|
|
|
The Aquatic Blue-Food Coalition participated in the Bonn Climate Change Conference to promote greater integration of food systems transformation into the climate crisis discussions. The Coalition organised a side event in cooperation with GIZ of Germany, entitled Strengthening Blue Foods’ Role in National Food Systems to Meet Climate and Nutritional Targets: The ‘Why’ and the ‘How To’.
