The Global Action Network Action Plan includes arranging annual meetings, workshops and events, recognize interested parties and establish connections to promote collaboration and interaction among cross-sectorial actors focusing on the important elements for food security from Healthy Waters to Healthy People.

Call for experts: the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Consultation
|
|
|
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and World Health Organization (WHO) are seeking experts to serve as members of a Joint FAO/WHO Expert Consultation on the Risks and Benefits of Fish Consumption.

|
|
|
|
Proposal for update of the HLPE report 7
|
|
|
Norway, supported by many other stakeholders from our network, has proposed that the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS) should update the HLPE report 7 on Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture for Food Security and Nutrition, and the related CFS recommendations if needed.

African perspectives on aquatic food for food security – One Ocean Expedition seminar
|
|
|
Small Scale Fisheries (SSF), industrial fisheries and aquaculture as well as nutritional challenges were addressed. Industrial approaches would be needed to increase the role of aquatic food in the population as a whole, but SSF is key for coastal communities and needs attention to ensure equitable access.

The Global Action Network will continuously identify challenges, exchange knowledge and solutions related to the key elements of food security. Through the Gain and Share Tool, you can gain and share knowledge to promote sustainable food from the oceans and inland waters for food security and nutrition.

COVID pandemic: How to ensure nutrition along the fisheries value chain
|
|
|
The COVID pandemic has impacted both the supply and demand of fish to provide nutritious food. While the producers and consumers are more health-conscious than ever (in both human and natural resources), the needs to focus on facilitating intermediary sectors and the actors between production and consumption are paramount.

Safe Seaweed by Design protocols
|
|
|
Seaweed has received a lot of attention as a promising biomass with a range of applications and its ecosystems services. However, safety comes first. The Safe Seaweed by Design project has developed protocols to help the young European seaweed sector grow safely. With the end of the Project (03.2023) we are happy to publish our protocols and hope to reach stakeholders of the industry.
