Who are we, what do we do?
|
|
|
|
Sustainable food from the oceans and inland waters plays a significant role for food security and nutrition.
|
|
The Global Action Network will mobilize actions to include aquatic food as a key food source for achieving food security and improved nutrition in the Decade of Action on Nutrition (2016-2025) and in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Online Global Action Network Meeting 2021
|
At the Global Action Network meeting 2021, we summed up the achievements so far and planned for future work. The 2022 Task Force was established, and now consists of participants from the Global Action Network, including country representatives from Iceland, the Netherlands and Norway, as well as the organizations UN nutrition, WorldFish, IFAD, and the University of Ghana.

Blue/Aquatic Food Action Coalition
|
|
|
|
The Blue/Aquatic Food Action Coalition was launched at the UN Food Systems Summit in September 2021. The ambition of the Coalition is to promote global recognition of the importance of foods from the ocean and inland waters to a growing world population, and support a more rapid uptake of projects and policies that create understanding of the importance of sustainably managed fisheries and aquaculture in meeting food and nutrition needs.

How insect farming is used to promote peace and sustainable development in Colombia
|
|
|
|
Karol B. Barragán-Fonseca's team (Universidad Nacional de Colombia) proposed an Agroecological Insect-Fish Farming model. They showed that producing Black Soldier Fly on organic residual streams may contribute to the development of a circular economy model of aquaculture production system, that generates a sustainable income for small- and medium-scale farmers.
